Transformation

This rattan luggage was owned by a little girl, I was told by the owner, about 15 or more years ago. Done and sewn with love by the late Grandmother. Now passed over to a younger generation of the same family.

Now the proud owner of this treasure is Puan Norma Omar. How delightful she is having some lovely gift for her  baby son, very soon...... InsyaAllah.
The originated wraps were very well done. I was so fascinated by the neatness and sharpness of the hand sewn product produced by a very talented and dainty fingers of a lady whom had just left the family few months ago...... Al Fatihah.

This is what was hidden behind the beauty:

And I felt so honoured for having the trust to give the treasure a new look....... Alhamdulillah

Nurul's n HappyHouse # 8

A set of sweet colour for Puan Nurul
It is rarely I did something frilly for babies. Looks okay though, as requested, but I switched to white trimming instead of using the same fabric to prevent over crowding the whole set..... :)
The HappyHouse # 8 is returning summoned by Nurul and a wrapped diaper basket came along to match the entire lilac family.

It arrives.......

This awaits when I came home from the qur'an recital sessions with friends today. The parcel that I have been waiting for almost 3 months... but it was worth them all.

This is the quilted fabric basket, made for a SWAP organized by Michele Foster of Quilting Gallery few months back. It came from Jacquelyn Morris-Smith of Arizona, USA, my swapee..... She includes other goodies, a table mat and mug rug, a little notes and some business cards. I love them all, Jacquelyn..... and thanks a heap for all these lovely items and the beautiful fabric basket...:)

If dear reader ever wonder how was mine..... please visit Marta, who keeps my basket safely in her home...... :)

The two tier sewing basket made early this year was finally revealed after the State WI meets was held on the 9th April 2011 and my little achievements was it has passed through few stages and finally went to Kedah State level. Alhamdulillah .

It is now at the Petaling Jaya WI Head Quarters for further valuation..... InsyaAllah.

So was the Sejadah Sujud (small prayer mat). It went through all stages and was posted together with the above basket representing KEDAH for the National level on craft category.

The fruit of my labor....

It was a tough job sewing this moses basket..... and after struggling and slogging for two days, finally it was done. Alhamdulillah. This is for Puan Hajah Zuraida.

During the constructions, I made sure that this basket wrapper could stands on its own. So the base and wall lining were battered and stippled accordingly and all raw edges were bounded with bias using the same fabrics. The wall lining at the hooded part was shaped to that of the weaved flow of rattan basket.
The hood cover was trimmed with lace and gathered with elastic band and has no batting. To secure it in place, a ribbon was sewn on each sides, and finally it will pair with another one from the wall lining.
To get the fabric consumed less, I replaced the base with bold material...... it hides perfectly well though .... :)

An attempt to sew the binder to all edges after attaching the lace. The lace was sewn taper-off on each end of tie-attachments.

Baskets... done!

These baskets were ready about two days ago...... and placed them where I can see
and glance at, everyday while doing some sewing.......
I knew something was missing and they needed some touch....they were just so 'a plain Jane'
.......but that was how the owner Puan Hajah Jasmani, suggested..... simplicity!

Then I sewed up, a white cotton lace on the wrapper, embracing the white baskets. Here they are now....and it is okay I assumed, to add some value to them.

Recycled products...

I was venturing away for 3 days to our yearly activities at WI HQ at PJ. This year around we have to produce something from recycled old newspaper to be weaved to form variety of baskets or anything related as our next source of fun raising.

Puan Aishah and me, busy rolling cut papers to make the main material to weave the basket.

Participants came from all states from Semenanjung except from Perlis, which did not turned up for certain reasons.

Few example of products from the same materials.

These are mine, produced in one day hard labour :)

I am fiddling some times to convey all the knowledge I have learnt here to all my buddies in Kedah. InsyaAllah.

I’ve to rush thing in my sewing corner a bit because of some deadline, which means I’ve been sewing, piecing, stitching past my bedtime, which inevitably leads to ................ urgh!

I can do it, I must do it, I will do it, I will work hard now ...............!!!

Diaper Basket and Stacker

This wrapped basket and a diaper stacker are for Puan Wan Noraini, a neighbour, who awaits patiently for her new grandchild due by end of this month.

All materials are provided by the owner..... and I think using a satin is quite lovely to match the bear design cotton/polyester fabric, the soft colour sort of compliment each other.

FABRIC BASKET #2

So excited about the cute little blue basket, I made another big-sister-basket to accompany.

It did not take long to complete since the basic requirements were understood. Just some adjustments on sizes. This basket has a square base.

It is cute for storing some soft toys..... !
