IVORYCARES CARNIVAL DAY 09

Lately I was so busy and my house and sewing corner was in a mess and I just can't stop sewing and sewing.... to produce anything that I could managed.... patched bags, pouches, clutches, embroidered table cloth, pincushions, table mats and some quilts and runner as display items.

And last Sunday, here I was in the Island of Penang with Hubby, from the break of dawn till sunset... at Penang Times Square for IvoryCares Carnival Day 09 ...The Ivory Properties group had their annual event to help raised fund and the amount collected will be donated to the poor and needy. It was just a small crowds/gathering, more like a family day with children and lots of food and music.

I was so tired during the events and how I wish I was at home and had a good nap.... but with few items were sold and many just stopped by for a chat and admiring my products, I felt quite happy behind my booth ...... (since Hubby is one of their staff, he could not helped out :( ..... We wrapped up with some amount to donate to the needy and I was quite pleased with the whole event and got over with in satisfactions.......

Managed to pester/persuade Hubby to take us to Borders at QueensBayMall and grabbed a quilt magazine then shoot home. I was dozed off with heavy head before reaching Penang Bridge on the way home which took about one and a half hour journey with the magz opened in my hands....... poor Hubby drove in cats-and-dogs!

SEWING and BEADING COURSES

Last Saturday I was selected to represent our WI (NGO) to take a day course on making a two-layered scarf plus some creative bead-sewing to enhance or giving some added value to dresses particularly... This was really an invaluable courses that I would not miss for the world.... Have to convey this beautiful craft to my group later, on our monthly activities....

Below were some of the 40 participants all came around Kota Setar.

During the drafting of templates and sewing......

The completed scarf and some beautiful creations to otherwise a plain dresses.... I love every minute of the course..... and I met few friends who were doing quilting and patchworks too ......

Since came back to stay here in Alor Setar, I have not met any personal whose interest are somewhat like mine... will have a group of quilting enthusiast later, I hope :)

FEW LOVELY GIFTS

These past few days I was not feeling good.... with the changes of weather and had a severe migraine and put me off my sewing area constantly.

Yesterday changed the whole things when I received these lovely gifts from Hubby and a dear friend....

This little beauty 'accidentally' fell on my lap as a gift from Hubby due to my birthday few weeks ago...... (what more can i ask when I have so much love and affections from the man of my life......) for my dear old baby giving me a signal that something was not okay with her..... she has to visit my technician shortly. Then came the urge of having another little baby to fulfill my need of something small and handy and Hubby came to the rescue..... so this belongs to me from beloved Hubby. Thanks Dear!

It did not ends there when Hubby brought in two big envelopes and placed them on my sewing table. Oh gracious God..... from SHIMA..... both!!!! I was so speechless when I opened the contents.... Shima, you managed to enlighten my days and here I mumbled my words of thanks for being so thoughtful and giving 'that' most beautiful fabric, fabrics, ribbons and lovely decoupage tissues........ apart from the first 3 sets of hexy-flowers of our Hexy Game..... Thanks a heap dear....... thanks again and again. While doing this entry I am still holding your hexy-flowers and all the lovely fabrics in my hands......

HOUSES FOR BABY - 4th

It has been quite a while I did not do quilting and too much on bag making, how I love the diversions .....

Rushed this little green piece for Yasmin and her coming baby boy soon.

Simple wonky houses design, all machine stitched and machine quilted. Measuring roughly 3ft x 4ft. This is my 4th reproduction of the same.

These are the close up requested by Cik Kema. Simple satin stitch or zig-zag. Black thread to highlight each object. No turning in seams, no stabilizer. Simple and fast....

KHUZAIMAH's WEDDING

Last week end with Hubby (lucky that day could get hold of hubby to tagged along) we attended my former student's, Khuzaimah, wedding which was held at Hutan Kampong, Alor Setar.

She looked radiantly beautiful...... she was a simple girl who came to learn traditional machine embroidery, bags making and a bit of networking setup. She is building up her blog... to fill all her leisure time and will be residing in Rawang and will be a full time housewife....

Mmm Zaima, Auntie advise you to learn some Kedah's delicious traditional dishes and have many children ..... see, I can't cook well till now and am so lonely..... and now you are not around to accompany me... :(

Will frequently visit your mum to tackle her secret recipes.... :)

WRIST POUCH...... last but not last!

As usual after sending off hubby to the bus terminal then came home, the sewing room will be my first target. While the washing machine was mumbling and rambling taking over the laundry from me, I was happily sewing and listening to the local radio station - Kedah FM.

Now here is the result.......... Darr, mama have these for you! Are you happy?

Now I am off to the wet market to get some fresh ingredients for the Hari Raya menu tomorrow.......

WRIST POUCH........ enough!

When Amalina left and turn the next block, disappeared from my sight I instantly remembered my girl NIA and have to make one to match her baju raya too (so did Amalina said about her pink pouch)...... Drooling I went and completed this. Just a perfect gift for her..... I knew that she would not read this cos she is soooooo engross with her new 'toy' (not to worry for DARR cos she has three in hand).

P/S Before I could conclude this entry DARR called and told me that she has only TWO, one was given to her cousin, and insisted that I make another two of her own fabric choice.............. now what!!!!!!! GIRLS ARE GIRLS...... COULD NEVER HAD ENOUGH OF ANYTHING.............. Grrrrrrrrrr!
Will make TWO for you Darr..... cos I LOVE you two, three, four, five.....

WRIST POUCH......yet another!

A visitor came this early morning about 7.56am, Amalina, SIKAKITULIS at my sewing room to pick up this .............. she managed to urge me to do one piece of the pouch for her. How could I refused when she sounds like my daughter who was so desperately need one for this 'Eid!

Drive carefully dear..... on her way to Sri Iskandar to collect her sister. And both will proceed to Kuantan............ All my prayer to your safety. InsyaAllah....

LAST ....... just awhile!

I found my long lost friend, Farah Sofiah, few weeks ago......

Few years back......we had been drifted apart and so absorbed with own activities and endless commitments. But the best thing was when she first contacted me, I was fast asleep in BK3 at about 3.25am and the message was she 'found' me through this blog..... how amazing and she placed some order for these two items....... a lappy sleeve and denim patched bag.

Maybe this will be my last sewing and shall wrap up my sewing room for the 'EID'..... (wonder if I will be able to stay away from the sewing machine that long...... :))

Monday, 14 September 2009

THE GOOD OL' SUMMERTIME MINI QUILT SWAP

We (hubby and I) had a great time last week visiting our children at BK3. During this fasting month I knew that they would love to have their favourites dishes to be on the table at least once.... Nia-Laksa Penang, Darr-Ayam Pedas Kicap and Boy-Hot and Spicy Spaghetti.... all done..... And also we had few shopping trips.... We are now back at Alor Setar.

Before we left for KL, actually I managed to complete this, but the line was down then and could not post here until today.

The Good Ol’ Summertime Mini Quilt Swap

Very soon I will sent this to my swap partner. Since she loves flowers.... and from few of my local batik fabrics, machine appliqued and machine quilted.....this will be hers. I really hope she likes my little bright quilt specially made for her. It measures 22" x 22".

DENIM PATCH BAGS

The fasting month has always been busy with all sorts of activities from early morn till late night. Added to it my eldest (Nia) came home to celebrate this early fasting seasons with us. We had lots and lots of things to chat and lots of things to giggle about! But in between that, I never stopped doing some sewing.

(Remember my own denim patch bag! It has been snatched by a friend who admired it so much... Well, guess have to make another similar one or maybe using heavy cotton this time....)

Made these two last weekends, but the other one was gone too....YOU KNOW WHO HAD DONE IT!

Who can spot the difference here.... yes, right! One was stippled and the other was pebbled by machine.

As requested by Effa, here is the pic of the lining with pockets attached.

BLACK BEAUTY

Since small, I always wanted anything in red or black colour. My late mum said that it is a dull colour for a young girl and it will make me look old..... but I still love those two colour till now.
Lately I asked for black hexagon exchange from friends around here..... BLACK is BEAUTIFUL!

And here is one example
So................... feast your eyes............................. I'll continue tonight..... so sleepy!

HEXAGON GAME # 1 - FIDA

Hello all Hexy Game Members!!!!!

Yesterday Balkhis and I had a mutual agreement and a brief conversation between us regarding the many commitments that she has at the moment... which I am sure all member has read about it.

This is the conclusions.... Balkhis hand over the other portion/lot to me and I shall fulfill the commitments.... yeah! I have two lots to muddle into but I have two sets of Hexygon quilts in the end... is not that sounds wonderful...... yes!

So the above blues are for FIDA coming from me, which I made today. Balkhis will post this with hers later.

Mmmmm.... I have to choose a colour for my other lot. I think I would prefer BLACK since I love red and black. Oh oh... black does not means all black! Anything with black in each hexagon pieces will be fine even if it is just a little black dot. Much preferable if it is a black-base fabrics.....
The motif (centre) is still yellow/orange....

Is it sound demanding? Well, have your say......... (Naiz has lots of black-base fabrics.... love them all)

DENIM PATCH BAG

All this while I have been sewing bags for friends or for my little shop. I need something for myself and be proud to carry one...... Not too much to ask right? Now I own this.

The materials were from some collections of my childrens' old denim jeans, overalls, skirts, tops........ Cut, patched, quilted and here it is!

I applied the pebble-quilt for the whole bag with inner pockets on lining and a wrapped button.

FELT GRAB

Received these rainbows few days back... and the colours are lovely. But most importantly is, its rare price that you have to grab right now on sales at Cik Kema's MsCraft Shoppe. Hurry now with a good price for a good size of rainbow felt!

This is going to be one of my projects during the long term school holidays at the end of the year....

HEXAGON TEA COSY

I was having such a horrible but quiet time when the inter net line was down for two days..... well, all must have had the same experiences and life was so empty then ...... :(

But it was quite paid off with my findings of this.... totally forgotten about making an entry on that. Completed after the yellow set but was abandoned by me..... poor thing..... finally found it in between my stash.

All handpatched and handquilted.

FAVOURITE - BLUE QUILT

Look at these two identical (almost) of blue and cream. One of my favourite quilt (right) that I cherish always.

The original design (left) was derived from the Australian Patchwork & Quilting (my most fav. magz.) Vol 13, No 3&4, May&June 2005 and designed by Therese Hylton.

Since this is a sampler/wallhanging quilt I used nylon tread for quilting. Appliqued and quilted by machine. The most favourite blocks are the pair of birdie.... and the other two.

FIDA'S BLUE FLOWERS

Well, these are all my BLUE FLOWERS for FIDA and one of the pincushion will be hers.

Completed yesterday but our Puan Balkhis would like to see them personally and decided to come over then finally she could not make it. So have posted this today for Fida.

Note that I did not sew the fabric through paper template for easier removal of paper later on. I used white thread throughout but it is still not very visible on the right side since I just pinched a small portion of fabric through and pull out slightly taut... not too much or will warp or distort.

This tag was from SHIMA. Thanks Shima .

Rules:You must thank the person who gives you the award.
Copy the logo and place it in your blog.
Link to the person who has nominated you for the award.

Name 7 things about yourself that people might find it interesting.

1. To my family I am a perfectionist..... I can still compromise with others though.

2. To choose between sewing and cooking.... I would rather scrubbing the floor, but still go to the kitchen for the sake of my beloved.... and my favourite recipes are LaksaPenang and MeeCurry.

3. Most morbid and phobia on riding a motorbike cos I fell off hard once.

4. Can't stand anything furry like cats...... don't mind jumping on chairs or table if one comes nearby....

5. Apart from sewing, love swimming so much... or just be in the water makes my life wonderful!

6. I am my Father's favourite child .... loves me even though I stay far from him ..... I am as stubborn as he is..... equal... but we get along fine. I did all men task during childhood and tagging along him like a shadow and helped him out to do gardening , mowed the lawn, built our own playground, built a little play-hut and we play kites together. I even helped out to repair my bicycle and changed flat tyres...... He is 80 this year and I love him ever!

7. Now, counting the days for Hubby's retirements and hope the many plans and dreams we have will come to reality..... we pray hard for that. Aaaminnn.

Post links to the 7 blogger you nominate. Leave comments on each of the blogs to let them know they have been nominated.

P/S To everyone who likes to share their interesting stories please do take this.... Thank you.

DECOUPAGE

Apart from sewing, lately I plunged myself into this decoupage world.

Frankly I had a great time doing these, firstly because I want to get the feel of doing something new and secondly I was appointed to explore more on this and generate some fund for the Institution.

Though at first had no intention of making an entry of these..... but I think some CREDITS should be given to AFFEEN DECOUPAGE for giving full support and good tutorials. Thanks Affeen, without your help I think I could not produced anything like these.

Just wondering if should I venture more into this or..................

NO
, I think I am still madly in LOVE with SEWING and will do lots and lots of QUILTING!!!!!!

GONE IN SPLIT SECOND

Since I made these two pair, our dear Balkhis had not got the time to visit my sewing room. She was all glancing, browsing and eying through the net and had something set in her mind.

Today Balkhis came to my sewing room and snatched my other pair.

( She did not know that I made this for her, and I did not dare to tell her.... let her see and find out herself. She could sensed, I guess, for she went straight to the right spot and found it hanging with the rest of my other tiny things, and claimed it was hers .... funny right!)

It was okay 'cos she looked so radiantly happy today.... wonder why! We just wait and see.......

MISSING IN ACTION

Totally exhausted for the past one week for some yearly events which involved our WI (Women Institution) , other NGOs and the governments sectors which took place at the Stadium Darul Aman from July 31st. - August 1st 2009.

Made some crafts projects just to give colours to our other products and to generate some fund for our Institution. My little contributions were just so minute compared to others. But so proud that at least I took part in this most soughtful event which involved His Royal Highness and the Yayasan Sultanah Bahiyah -

'Sultanah Bahiyah Foundation is a charitable organisation which takes its name after its founder and first royal patron, Almarhumah Tuanku Bahiyah Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Rahman. Incorporated as a foundation on 20th August 1996, the Yayasan is managed by a Board of Trustees and the present Chairman is YTM Dato' Seri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz binti KDYMM Tuanku Sultan Haji Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah.'

Some pics during the events.

Look who came to visit our humble booth. Our 'IRON LADY' Dato' Maznah Hamid. She stayed about half an hour and have a nice chat full of motivated speech and spirited advices to us. She bought most of my items mostly the patchworks products.

Had been busy for few days..... missed my sewing room and mostly I missed my friends here...............

KakDee minta maaf kerana lambat reply dan buat entry tentang template hexagon seperti yang dijanjikan.

Kita ambil ukuran seperti digambar tertera.

>Potong.
>Terap banyak2 guna template mastercopy atas kertas sederhana tebal, gunting.
>Siap template kita.

THE HEXAGON GAMES

Hello to all!!

The Hexagon Games is just around the corner and very soon a lucky girl will get her parcels flowing over her door steps.

Okay, there are few clarifications to be made before we proceed, if possible by early/mid August.

Firstly, please make it exactly 2" side-to-side templates. Think Balkhis will email to all or visit here and print to size.

2. The flowers that we are making. I prefer that we use assorted fabrics' colour to reduce our piling up stash. And through my experience, the yellow/orange for flower-centre will make a beautiful Grandma-Flower-Garden. Or other alternative like in the pics, please suggest or comments at Balkhis's blog. The best paper piecing tutorials and my favourite is here and like to share with everyone. Yes, what about the template, should we remove them .... it is earsier to sew all flowers together with paper still intact.

3. The postage. For me my choice is the Pos Express. Have tried to insert all 10 pieces in the RM3/= envelope, fits nicely and post instantly (hate to queue). Or is it costly?.Please suggest!

4. Please voice out anything. Clear off the clouds from your mind, we shall discuss and shoot to start.......soooooooon!!!!

Well Nia, it is yours!

FABRIC BASKET #2

So excited about the cute little blue basket, I made another big-sister-basket to accompany.

It did not take long to complete since the basic requirements were understood. Just some adjustments on sizes. This basket has a square base.

It is cute for storing some soft toys..... !

ONE DAY'S WORK

Another embroidery project from Puan Balkhis for her office's, Pejabat Daerah Kubang Pasu, Carrum Club Tournaments.

MY SEWING CORNER

Personally I have been asked to expose my little corner of the world where I spent most of my times sewing and crafting.............Well, let the pictures tell the story.

It is my way of keeping all my fabrics pre-washed and fold them in-side-out. Here it looks like all are plain and dull colours... not really...... and I love all of them... and my books and magazines.

They are my treasures!

PENGUIN PINCUSHION

Look at that bright and sparkling eyes....... I have been hiding this from children that came to my sewing room. It is a not a toy (could make one in bigger version) though. It is meant for a pincushion. Saw the pic from the net somewhere, drafted and designed to make it able to sit upright .... and here it goes!

ONE NIGHT'S WORK

It came all of a sudden, and it is typical of our Dear Balkhis. She came late evening with bundles of packed towels to be embroidered and to be collected the next morning........! GOSH.......

This was one of her office's, Pejabat Daerah Kubang Pasu (Kubang Pasu District Office), activity and some charity works organized by them.

Finally I made it with weary eyes the next morning. While waiting for her to collect the whole bunch I dozed off for a hundred times.... z z z z z....

AWAY FOR SOME SPLASHES!!

Last Friday we were off to Bukit Merah Lake Town Resort.

All eight families (30 people) gathered up for three days and we had great times! My three kids came up too.

Hubby and me, always get surrounded by kids.

Further left, Atin had her day dreaming 'cos she loves the water but did not know where to start.... while waiting to get admission. One of her cat's-shy acts....

My son, BOY, getting even darker under the sun!!

Could not get my two girls, they had disappeared earlier.

This was one of the best place where I immersed myself for almost four hours...... water... water... water... had really good splashes!!!!!
I really got tanned. I have always love to swim... and had not much time doing so lately.

Get hold few of my little nephews and nieces to do a proper breathing and swimming , and some can't even float........ :p

Managed to catch hold of Hubby's disappearing acts. On his way to stroll around the village behind the resort.

He gets an additional pics of his 'outing' collections. Right now he is working hard to find out what is this furry fruits called............non-edible definitely!

Everybody was having fun and at the end of the day we went our separate ways..... Most of them went back to Kuala Lumpur including my kids.....

Sharing Beauty..

I had to share this with you all girls...
Our lovely Diah Rothman, so generously made this beautiful quilt for Hexagons of Hope.
Pictures do not do this quilt justice... it is far prettier in real life.
It has been lovingly made and quilted with care.
I feel so priveleged to pass this on...

Now I know Diah won't want me making a fuss, so I won't...
..except to say "Thankyou" once again for being a lady with such a generous heart.

This quilt has a very interesting history.
It's worth a read to see how it came to life...
Check out the link here under "hexy finding" for all the info on how this quilt came to be.

PINCUSHION

Dear friend Haslina gave me this piece of stencilled fabric to make into something. Received few months back and it took me awhile to get it done and finally managed to complete this yesterday.

It is a pincushion having 4 inches square. Just stitched a cotton lace around it and have no intention to add anything else because it is just beautiful being itself. I did not even cut it any smaller to give space for the pin or needles not to land on the beautiful stincilled part. Too lovely to get poke!

Thanks Haslina. I will keep this lovely gift from you.... ever!

PEAR PINCUSHION

Early morning today, I had set my mind and effort to finish off Nia's quilt top. After full preparation for backing (she changed fabric backing again for the third time) and smoothly laid out on my prep-table, I found out that I did not have enough batting for that queen size.......Oh my, so frustrated! It rained outside, it made me so reluctant to go out to buy one today.

Divert my mind setting on something that I wanted to sew for quite sometimes now. Here it goes......

I have bookmarked this for months now. It is a beautiful creations of DAWN of UK Lass in US and have seen this on others. At first I thought it was tough, but with minor adjustments I managed to endure with which the tutorial says it all. Anyone interested please visit Dawn and could post your creations over her place.

P/S To Jaja of Jajakraf, this is only the tiny bit of the felt from you. See what more I can do..... but I know, you are the queen of felt.... love all your craftworks on felt.

CALENDAR QUILT CHALLENGE - MAY

This is for May.

First time, I was able to sew and posting as scheduled. Hope this will continue throughout :-)

ATIN'S MEOW MEOW (UPDATED)

A single for Darling Little Princess Nur Fatin Izzati on her 1st birthday. machine patched and machine quilted.

This special quilt was hand over to her on her first birthday on August 10th 2007. Last night I recalled the beautiful moments during her stay in Alor Setar (they are now in Ampang, my niece's daughter, Salina). The above shows her first and second's birthday shot. Hope this coming birthday will be merrier than before.....Miss her dearly.....

Well, managed to get hold of the original design from my collections of magazine and would like to share here since it is a beautiful masterpiece, simple and easy and a nice gift for our little girl.

A quilt to share... and more Hexies

Hello everyone!!
I wanted to share with you the beautiful quilt that Diah from Malaysia made and donated to Hexagons of Hope.
It is truly stunning and fresh and pretty and pics don't tell the whole story.
Pop over to the Great hexagon Quilt-Along to read Diah's story about this quilt.
Here 'tis...

Thank you once again Diah.

STASH BUSTER

In my attempt to fluff my this treasured quilt, it drizzled outside and had to transfer it indoor.

Just to recall old times when we stayed in BK3 and kids were in college, I managed to do this to unstashed, way back in 2002.

This king size quilt is quite an interesting project for those who find it hard to quilt in a bulk and have limited quilting space. And the best part is, it is a-quilt-as-you-piece project or foundation piecing, means that we laid 3 layers together and sew the additional pieces and it will form the quilt. Stacked all up and join the pieces by hand-finishing.

I used this great technique from JUDY TURNER from her book Awash With Colour. The pics from Australian Patchwork & Quilting Annual 2002 Vol 9 No 11 Page 58.

BAG ORGANIZER

What lurks in your handbag? But most importantly is how many handbags do we have.

With this organizer we can just.........
pick up the bag organizer, shove it in a new handbag and off we go .....

I have sewn mine quite sometimes ago, but some friends asked me to make for them. Well, it is not that tough and I assure you, you can do it. Lets give us a try!

With permission I have this site for you to refer for the tutorials in pdf file. Thanks to Lolly of The Giving Flower for letting us share her creative and wonderful design.

Please have the courtesy to say something on her page and I am sure she will be happy.....at least for visiting.

X -STITCH TREASURES

In the beginning of my marriage life way back in 1983, I had started this hobby of cross-stitching to fill my free time when I was having my first pregnancy. I resigned from my job in KL, and stayed with my hubby's family in Alor Setar, and was jobless then. So had really lots of leisure times sewing and picking up my other hobbies while learning to serve local dishes from my late MIL. Then I had tree kids and a career to take care and had limited times.

These two are my favourites. Roses are my flower and the other one was done fully stitched and took about one month to complete.....

How I wish that we could stay somewhere as serene as is in the design when hubby retires...........

I did a lot. From the smallest items to things for framing up.
Some of them were given away to relatives and also as wedding gifts to my closest deerie. These are some left which was collected by hubby and framed and hanged up in our family lounge.

Also found in an old shoe box were my pieces of DMC embroidery threads.

If I could locate my other collections of UFO's x-stitch hidden in the darkness of my old wardrobe, I'll include here.

Another one of my favourite was crocheting................

PAISLEY FRENCHY BAG

The whole of last week was my rest day of sewing..... Just sewing?

But my kitchen had turned upside down!

My eldest and youngest came back for a week and they have big appetite and a good flair for foods. In fact I was happy to cook whatever they craved for........ (Mind you I am not good at cooking, but some how I managed). They went back yesterday morning.

Then I hopped for some fabrics and zippers in town, came home and did some pattern and fabric cutting. Complete this today for Nia's old buddy. Could not get the paisley fabric design she asked for all this while...but was lucky, got it yesterday and done with it!
> All cotton with lining and pockets internally.
> magnetic snap fastener

LAPPY SLEEVE

HANISYAHIDA was my new student. She came just to learn sewing, nothing specific in particular. After some brief talk we decided to make a lap-top sleeve.

She was a fast learner and could sew a really straight line.....( for a first timer like her, that really matters) She has the flair of sewing. First day just taught her on handling of sewing machine and about my 'old girl' and what she is capable of...... some stitching patterns and a little bit of fabrics and threads. Then we proceed on the actual size of her lappy-sleeve and I scribbled off the pattern and ..... so on and on!

Well, here it is.

It took her two days to complete this. I am proud of her.

RAINBOW FABRIC, FELTS and GIFTS

I have been eying for this fabric design from a very creative blogger friend Jajakraf. Finally the parcel came knocking at my door step today. I am so happy....

Apart from that gorgeous rainbow fabric Jaja could managed to get me some rainbow colours of felt. This is my double happiness......

And also, see the pinky little round thing there...... It is truly Jaja's. Thanks so much for the lovely pincushion for my additional collections. Love it. My third happiness....

So all in all I am the happiest old girl! Thanks again Jaja for making my day, today.

SUBSTITUTE! ( New Home)

I was panting up and down wondering why my hubby came home late from work last Saturday. Understood that his journey took him more than one hour but the wild thought was hovering me more than anything........ oh damned! Nothing else but ...........I was sooooooo HUNGRY :-p

Finally he arrived home with his old-yellow-silver-bone-shaker (his FWD Pajero) accompanied by this huge green thing. We had a very late dinner!

Well, as long he was happy.......................... indeed he was. The next day, he woke up so early to plant this 'SHREK' (I named it) and had his breakfast outside, at his little garden.

This is his favourite nook....... when the weather is fine he sips his hot coffee here situated just outside our little house. This gazebo is my hubby's own ........... designed and 'handmade' by him amongst few other things ......

My son's, BOY, vintage Vespa (formally belongs to my father). Just ignore the Vespa.... just look at the little bird's house. Made from barks of trees....... and some of his driftwood collections from the jungle around Kedah forest.

BUT wondering when will the brown giant thing in the living room be removed :-(

P/S As per today (20th May) this 'brown giant' has its permanent home, under the porch where hubby always sit and has a good rest after the hard-days-work. So now I have a peaceful mind. :-)

A GIFT FOR ME

It was not planned that we (hubby and I) traveled our way to KL again last weekend. We took a bus since hubby had never tried on one before and after my first (with Najwa) and literally narrated the luxurious coach and we could have a pleasant journey, he agreed. We went there to visit bro-in-law at Institute Jantung Negara for his by-pass surgery done last Monday. He is doing fine now and progressing fast for he is an active chap. Thank God!

Well as usual, the first thing that I grabbed was my take-along-set of my hexy project. For six hours journey we managed to acquire a lot. WE????? Hubby did some sewing too..... of course he can sew.... (can't prove to you cos promised would not show the pics of him sewing). We had great times together and we could talk a lot and mesmerising our happy moments this past years >>>>>>

Deep in side, I missed my shopping or rather hopping around KL........ as we spend most of our times at IJN.

But lucky me cos my girls did it for me..................... so, so happy....

See what they had bought for me. Till now I do not understand why they bought these items for.......

This mushroom thing is for darning.... it helps me a lot to avoid pricking my fingers during that process.

The sewing book is okay.

But the beading book ???????????

The tools set ??????????

............ help!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, THANKS A LOT GIRLS

UFT TO PROCEED

Today I am in the mood of dusting off my sewing room. Apart from extracting dust and pieces of stash from my few treasures, I found some UFT (UnFinishTop) stare mercifully at me from the top of my shelves. Not that I am unaware of their existent, but try to ignore ....... quite a while then.

One top down from its friends.

This was chosen when I saw our dear friend Mus is blogging about this design. Quite similar to hers and she requested that I post mine too. Take this opportunity to complete it.

I have sewn this sweet queen top for eldest daughter SITI DANIA (Nia) about a year ago. Was put aside until recently Nia found a suitable fabric design for backing and bought it for me to complete hers.

Well Mus, lets complete ours...............

CALENDAR QUILT CHALLENGE- MARCH

This pinky square is for March. Not much of pink colour collections though, and some of them were sewn together to give some good strips. I am way behind, and catching up soon.

WHITHER AWAY

I was shocked when I woke up this morning with this huge thing hovering my living room...

This belongs to my dear husband's garden creature. But somehow it got whithered away and he was upset about it cos this is one of his best plant that he nurtured day and night.

I simply do not understand plant and its nature (cos I just do not bother to understand). Sometimes (seldom) just help him water his little garden while he is away from town. (Always hope it rains everyday during his absence cos I am lazy to do the watering). Temporarily he put the whole plant in a plastic wrapper and it went inside a huge rattan basket.

Somehow this brown thing, smells like freshly cut grass, and the leaves do not fall off... luckily.

Well, I hope dear husband is happy that he placed this giant in the house for awhile... hope it will disappear soon.

HEXAGON OF HOPE from Malaysia

Well, after a few weeks of fun and leisure finally I came back with a new and fresh attitude. I did continue this for the whole day and it is now out for airing after washing and drying.

All was machine quilted. For freehand quilting definitely I used the darning foot (look closely, I have a broken darning foot, the lever/hook had snapped off few years ago but it is still very faithful to me).

Just simply stippled quilt on all the path except for the 'petals' and feather quilt around the frame.

So, as promised, I am on behalf of all Malaysian, whole-hearted and graciously would like to hand over this to ROBYN. Please give me the details on how to transfer this to its destination..... the Australian Victorian bushfire quilting ladies.

SNEAK OUT

I was being naughty during our stay in Penang. We were residing in Telok Bahang but thank God I could escaped with the help of my nephew and nieces to escort me, to QueensBay for a short window shopping. The distance is about half across the island.

This is what I could grabbed from Borders. I have been looking for this kind of craft book on every stores or book stands that I have visited. Finally.......

Inside this, lots of amazing source:

* beautiful collections of designs
* whimsical illustrations of mischievous fairies and delicate angels
* stylish Art Deco images
* classics motifs
* traditional patterns
* MANY MORE.........

Being naughty is worth the risk!!!! SOMETIMES

NAUFAL & SITI

Last 2 weeks we were quite busy with our niece's wedding, which took place in Ampang. The wedding reception was such a wonderful gathering for all family members. A lot of memories and each one of us took an important roll in whatever we could contribute and participate to make, our darling princess SITI AMINAH, the bride's dream comes to reality...

Personally I was attracted to many t
