BeNurul's Own

A comforter measures 3' x 4' for Ben and Nurul, for their baby to cuddle in......!

It was a simple piece but the soft combinations of fabrics enhanced the main design. A very lofty whereby I used 1" thick fibre batting and just stitch in the ditch all. I think this was my third piece using the same design.

In its simplicity, I love this dearly.

PASSION FRUIT

We were back at Hubby's home town, recently, just at Langgar, Alor Setar :D ...... , and I saw this PASSION FRUIT at the back yard. For more than thirty years now I have not tasted them...and so glad I did today. Locally known as BUAH MARKISA.

Some infor below, from the net, regarding this fruit.

Passion Fruits are great for use in soft drinks or cocktails. The fruits grow on a climbing plant which is also well known for its beautiful flowers.Cut the passion fruits in halves. Remove the pulp and squeeze and stir it through a sieve to extract the pure juice. Add syrup to taste. Add ice cubes. If too strong, dilute with water, or wait for the ice cubes to melt.

Serve it either chilled and straight away or in a chilled glass* with salted rim.

NOTES:

This smoothie requires either stored in the chiller section of the fridge or served straight away. The natural sugars in the fruits start fermenting (totally safe and natural process); but this makes it taste sour.

*To chill glass, fill with ice-cubes and store in the freezer for about 10 mins. Shake out the ice-cubes, dip the rim of the glass in Salt and serve the smoothie in it. Tastes excellent with salted rim.

Do you have sleepless nights? Try Passion Fruit smoothie!! Tangy and highly aromatic passion fruit pairs well with the sweetness and buttery texture of Mango in this smoothie.

Passion fruit is high in somniferous properties; when had before going to bed helps relax and gives a restful sleep. It is also rich Vitamin C & A, Iron and Potassium, and an excellent source of fibre if consumed with the seeds. The seeds that are covered in the yellow gooey gelatinous flesh is also eatable.

Not much on sewing done. Just clear-up the mess occured for the past few days, and whipped up these two boxy-pouch. One will go into the diaper bag and will be taken by the owner soon, Puan Siti Rohani.

And I have this WIP... almost due, and I have just finished the cutting. Well, I am rushing the whole of this baby set..........And pray I could complete the above on time.

Quite tight with preparation of WI state meeting this Saturday...... !

Apple of my eyes....even though!

A diaper bag. A simple, trial and error project. External material is scotch guard, fabric usually for curtain and water resistant, handles and lining were of cotton. A magnetic button for fastening and richly pocketed bag with eight all, and two wrapped elastic bands as fastener in the interior. Measures 20"x 11"x 5" approximately.

But, I was not very happy and satisfied with the handles.... kind of wobble and should sew the lines continuously down. I sandwiched in batting, instead of thick interfacing, intentionally to give a soft effect on the shoulder while carrying , but turned out so :(

Actually I wanted it to have two usage by fixing snap buttons on the exterior, at all sides or just let it open freely. But I have no larger snap buttons...but it still gets the effect of the other design without the buttons though. I learnt a lot of lessons from this apple green.... :)

One for me.....

From the first to the last few I was unable to claim any for my self. Now this definitely is mine and for me to keep.

A slightly bigger than standard size previously. With two inner pockets, a hooked-string to keep my car key within easy reach, zipper closure and little hexy charms dangles merrily as zipper pull.
I love it!

She stayed up for a couple of hours..... and occupied my cutting table to be her drawing corner.... She loves coloring and really great at it!!

Substitute for veiltail

This veiltail goldfish species was in my possession once..... just 2 of them, and proudly placed them at one corner of my sewing area in a big glass bowl. Love them dearly, I saw them grew each day and dancing merrily in the crystal clear water ....... just as they watched me, sewing.....!

Before my Pilgrimage years ago I let my niece had them....and when I came home later...... what left was an empty bowl collecting dust. I did not ask how and why???????

Recently I collected, cleaned and filled the poor bowl again........bit by bit from stash, few pieces at a time and finally it is full now to the brim..........with no fish, but lots of PINCUSHIONS........!

Then an apple green cover was introduced as companion and protection against dust.

And finally I am happy now, with my new found 'gold' stash!

Crafty Anique is having a giveaway of her lovely pillow cover......... Here is my quote to her......

Come on, jump over to her page and make an entry!

Another casserole dish carrier...... hatched!

While embroidering, I did another 2 pieces of casserole dish carrier. Just that this time they measured 17" diagonally instead of 19" previously.

The eldest and the 2 new sisters.
The latest sisters were not quilted on the top body..... much simpler and just used 1/2" ribbon and little beads to tie off neatly.

Just refer here if anyone interested to have the same !
Happy sewing, and a lovely weekends!

Upgrading

I made this last April, 2 pieces almost identical, for a friend, Puan Hajah Siti Rohani. She chose the quilted one and I have to continue quilting with the other.

The front, echo around the frame. The rear , used the same thread color as the top for all feathers and pebbles.

Some details of the whole quilt.

Casserole Dish Carrier

Amongst my most wanted to do list was this, casserole dish carrier. I found the tutorial here. I measured the standard 1.8litre bowl from the rice cooker, so it could snuggle in perfectly. It measures 19" diagonally and I am so pleased with the result.

When I browsed around some friends' blog I found that Rozi's CD Toter is very much practical and simple and she has plenty to offer with her lovely collections of fabric design.
You are great Rozi... :)

Up on the shelf

This top is ready for quilting, hopefully soon,.......... after this school holidays and wedding seasons.

I will take a break, to my hometown, Ipoh, for a short while and maybe will go further down to BK3 if Hubby is in the mood to drive us down......
I pray hard that he will.

All things moved......

Left alone means I do not need to cook for any meals, means Hubby was away for fishing!

And I went busy shifting and rearranging my sewing corner again. My secret..... I arrange the sewing room every two or three months once ...... Am I weird?

These pics below are just for my sewing diary and to keep track of my daily activities....... :)

A little office where I am typing now.... with such comfy armchair who could resist sitting for hours, surfing and browsing...... me especially!! And my sewing table with MekTam now.

The messy part of my corner... the working and cutting table. Last month I bought the foldable table from Giant...it is kind of handy and becomes 2' x 2' when folded up portable enough for my little transport. I transformed the back of the old cupboard and my old wardrobe for my design wall...... but found out that it is not sufficient to cater even for a single quilt top..... will see some other solutions.

This is how Hubby will view me, I guess....... when he is not busy with his Byond...... :D

An open storage area where I keep all the necessary quilting items ..... messy :)

This trolley with castors is really handy to store all the little sewing items.

Some collections of craft books and magazines

Now....... my most favorite spot....... supplied by my kids, they just knew their mama's taste.
I love chocolates and sweets :D

HexyDiamond is almost there..!

Almost a week I was dealing with this diamonds and the top was done. It measures approximately around 82" square. The frame was sewn and will look for a suitable backing fabric and quilt it and get it completed.
I attached the frame using this MekTam. She has been hibernating for quite sometimes now...and I will not let her rest anymore.
Day and night she will be drooling with me....... She is a real beauty!

Diamonds

But I am happy non the less to be able to touch them, hopefully, soon to be like THIS

Pincushions Craze hit back....

I was in town today and try to get hold of our Dear Friend, Puan Balkhis for lunch date but to no avail..... kind of miss her lately.

Was wondering around on my own (as always) after delivering few mails at the post office, then proceeded to town to just window shop.....! But I did not just glance trough the windows but awkwardly stumbled into the glass door to shop for fabrics... and brought home few metres of lovely fabrics from KAMDAR (on sales now) and some trimmings and colourful buttons for my latest craze........... hexagon pincushions!!!!

Started this for few days now but short of buttons to complete. More and more triangles are forming from fabric stash as I cut others for on going quilt project .... And now I have plenty of pincushions for my visitors and as door gift from my sewing corner ..... :)

WIP

I was in BK3 for almost a week with Hubby and had great times with my children and getting to know our SonIL, Afif, the quiet and shy type, more thorough then.. :) They, my kids, trailed me along in my craze of shopping around for few days.......... thanks all dear.

Before I left my sewing corner I got hold of few UFOs. There are few that attract my attention.

Now, this has become my next to do list since these pieces was there and existed as long as I can remember. Some remnants from a friend's king size quilt.

Argh, what a relief!

Wordless....

Kesidang, Kerak Nasi or Bread Flowers, all are the same, though they are tiny,
they have a sweet fragrance that mesmerises.

The long lasting scent is very therapeutic and helps to relieve stress and act as natural perfume which lingers on for few days......

The above, Hubby cut few stalks and placed it on my work desk. Thanks DIA......
